This Netflix series is an adaptation of the novel: Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

This poster was designed by fans of the series who were demanding it to be renewed for a new season. We can all recognize the diversity of topics covered in the series, for which it has been well received.

It was not easy for me to get through the first chapters, mainly because its main character, a 12-year-old girl who always speaks her mind, and who can become very annoying, can make you give up the series.

Anne is a girl who has not had an easy childhood and takes advantage of her great imagination to escape from reality. Like his adoptive parents in the series you gradually adapt to this girl’s story that takes you to a time (1890) that, seen from the 21st century, surprises.

Besides the magnificent adaptation of the time, its sets, elements, costumes, ways of speaking, hairstyles, etc… The series addresses some interesting topics such as the role of women in society, the things that were frowned upon at that time, fashion rules, physical judgement due to ancient beliefs, bullying, education, wealthiness and everything that can lead a person to feel fulfilled in life. All these issues can be indirectly analyzed while watching the series, and I really appreciate that flashback in time to see how we have evolved as a society (that, from the point of view of the fight for equality and respect for differences, there is still a long way to go, but in comparison it is satisfactory to see that we have already advanced a lot, not enough, but a lot).

The character’s endless imagination as an escape from reality and the worship of poetry and words as a way of seeing and feeling life is what most caught my attention in this series. You must have a lot of patience to see it and to learn to love this character, since it is quite particular and intense. I like to come across this type of content, which does not carry the frenetic pace of today’s series, and which does not show an eagerness to twist and squeeze the plot to the limit.
